West Central Nebraska Fires, Spring 2026
In March of 2026, several wildfires broke out in West Central Nebraska. Hot Meals USA began by feeding local firefighters in Oshkosh, Nebraska, then were asked to deploy to North Platte, Nebraska. Once we arrived in North Platte, we initially served 300 meals to federal firefighters in both North Platte and Ogallala, Nebraska three times per day, for a total of 1800 meals per day. Hot Meals USA was deployed for about three weeks and served approximately 20,000 meals to firefighters battling the Cottonwood, Morrill, and Ashby fires. As always, we would not be able to accomplish this large task without the help of our wonderful volunteers. We are thankful for all of the people in North Platte, Ogallala, and many other places that stepped up to help us answer the call to help.
